Showers are expected in some parts of Sri Lanka today, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Several spells of light showers will occur in the Eastern and Uva provinces and the Polonnaruwa, Matale and Nuwara-Eliya districts.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and the Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 p.m.
Fairly strong winds of about 30-40 kmph can be expected at times in the eastern slopes of the central hills and the Northern, North-central, North-western, Uva and Eastern provinces and the Hambantota and Kandy districts.
Meanwhile, showers can occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Pottuvil to Galle via Hambantota.
Winds will be north-easterly and wind speed will be 25-35 kmph. Wind speed may increase up to 50-55 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota and from Colombo to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam.
