A young Israeli woman has been apprehended at the Katunayake Airport following the discovery of a live 5.56 mm bullet in her luggage, it was reported.
According to media reports, the woman was arrested along with the bullet at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) this morning.
The suspect, a 22-year-old who served in the Israeli army, had travelled to Sri Lanka with her friend for a visit and was arrested while returning to her country.
The woman had arrived at BIA this morning to board a FlyDubai Airlines flight but was arrested after the live bullet was discovered during the airport’s security check.
The Israeli woman was handed over to the BIA airport Police for interrogation and she is expected to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court today. (NewsWire)
