President Ranil Wickremesinghe has emphasized the importance of expanding tourism beyond coastal areas to boost Sri Lanka’s economy.
The President particularly emphasized the role of the South in promoting tourism, highlighting plans to develop Galle into a prominent tourist destination.
These remarks were made during the inauguration of the “Serin River Park,” an ecological park in Holuvagoda, Galle, which was handed over to the public on Wednesday (Mar 13).
The park, built on a 14-acre unused land, was transformed into a recreational space through a project initiated by Minister Ramesh Pathirana and executed by the Urban Development Authority (UDA) and Sri Lanka Land Reclamation Corporation.
Costing approximately Rs. 440 million, the park features include a lake, walking paths, bridges, a children’s park, market stalls, and various ecosystems, powered by solar lighting. (NewsWire)
