Plans are underway to complete construction of the third phase of the Central Expressway from Pothuhera to Galagedara in two years, Minister of Transport and Highways Bandula Gunawardana announced.
Minister Gunawardena further said that the government plans to complete the first phase of the construction from Pothuhera to Rambukkana in 2025 and the entire project by July 2026.
The minister further said that following the completion of the construction, the public will be able to use the Central Expressway from Mirigama to Rambukkana.
He made the remarks while engaging in a progress review meeting of the project held at the project office located in the Lihinigiriya area of Pothuhera.
The third phase of the Central Expressway is 32.45 km in distance and consists of four interchanges; Pothuhera, Polgahawela, Rambukkana and Galagedara.
Construction concerning the related interchange of the Central Expressway is currently underway. (NewsWire)
