Sri Lanka Police have announced cash rewards for informants assisting with the ‘Yukthiya’ special operations underway targeting drugs and underworld-related activities in Sri Lanka.
Cash rewards are provided to informants to assist in the arrest of suspects with firearms or the discovery of firearms alone, with cash rewards ranging from Rs. 100,000 to Rs. 500,000.
The Police initially launched the ‘Yukthiya’ special operation in December last year to curb drug-related activities.
Another special Police operation was also launched under the ‘Yukthiya’ programme this week, to tackle underworld-related activities in Sri Lanka, with 20 Police teams being launched in the Western Province and Galle District.
The Police further said that 46 hotlines have also been set up for informants to provide information to assist the ‘Yukthiya’ operations.
The cash rewards to be provided to informants have been decided by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon.
The Police added that the rewards programme is effective for a period of one month starting from Wednesday (Mar 20). (NewsWire)
