Cabinet approval has been granted for the programme to provide sanitary pads for female school students facing poverty.
According to the government, the total student population in Sri Lanka amounts to 04 million and out of this 1.2 million are female students who have attained youth.
The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by the Minister of Education to implement a programme to provide sanitary napkins free of charge annually from April 2024.
The Sanitary napkins are to be provided to 800,000 female students studying in the most remote and isolated schools, including estate and urban schools, facing poverty. (NewsWire)
