Showers are expected in some areas of Sri Lanka, mostly in the afternoon, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western and Uva provinces and the Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 p.m.
Fairly heavy showers of about 50mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and Galle and Matara districts during the morning.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Matara via Galle in the evening or night.
Winds will be variable in direction and wind speed will be 20-30 kmph.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Hambantota via Colombo, Galle and Matara can be fairly rough at times. The other sea areas around the island will be slight.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (Newswire)
