Showers are expected in some parts of Sri Lanka, mostly in the afternoon, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Northwestern and Northern provinces and the Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 p.m.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Central, North-central and Uva provinces during the afternoon or night.
Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and Galle and Matara districts during the morning.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle in the evening or night.
Winds will be South-westerly or variable in direction and wind speed will be 20-30 kmph. Wind speed may increase up to 40-45 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Galle to Hambantota via Matara.
The sea areas off the coasts extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Galle to Hambantota via Matara can be fairly rough at times.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (Newswire)
