Heavy rains are expected in some parts of Sri Lanka today, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-western provinces and Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 p.m.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva province and Anuradhapura district during the afternoon or night.
A few showers may occur over the coastal areas of Puttalam to Galle via Colombo during the morning too.
Fairly heavy showers of more than 50 mm are likely at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle and Matara districts.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces during the morning.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle.
Winds will be southwesterly or variable and wind speed will be 20-30 kmph. Sea areas around the island will be slight.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (Newswire)
