Afternoon showers are likely in several provinces of Sri Lanka today, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western and Southern provinces after 2.00 p.m.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places over the coastal areas of Galle to Hambantota via Matara during the morning too.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces during the morning.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Pottuvil to Matara via Hambantota.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle in the evening or night.
Winds will be south-easterly in the sea areas extending from Kankasanthurai to Pottuvil via Trincomalee and south-westerly or variable in direction in the other sea areas around the island. Wind speed will be 20-30 kmph.
Sea areas around the island will be slight. Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (Newswire)
