The Ministry of Sports has provided compensation to the injured and the families of victims of the accident that occurred at the ‘Fox Hill Super Cross 2024’ event in Diyathalawa in April.
Sri Lanka’s Sports Ministry has provided a sum of Rs. 1 million each to the families of those who were killed in the tragic accident.
A sum of Rs. 250,000 each is to be provided as compensation to those who were injured in the incident.
Seven individuals were killed and 23 others were injured after a car hurtled into spectators during the races held in Diyathalawa.
The two drivers of the cars that were involved in causing the tragic accidents were initially arrested and remanded but were later released on bail.
A seven-member investigation panel, led by a Major General, was also appointed to uncover the circumstances surrounding the accident and to prevent future such incidents. (Newswire)
