The showery conditions over most parts of Sri Lanka are expected to enhance during the next few days from tomorrow (May 08), according to the Department of Meteorology.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western, Uva and Eastern provinces and Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 pm.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places elsewhere during the afternoon or night. Fairly heavy showers of about 50 mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces and Galle and Matara districts.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces during the morning.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.
Winds will be southwesterly or variable and wind speed will be 20-30 kmph. Wind speed may increase up to 40-45 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Batticaloa to Hambanthota via Pottuvil.
The sea areas off the coasts extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Batticaloa to Hambanthota via Pottuvil can be fairly rough at times. Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (Newswire)
