Sri Lanka Police officials have been caught on video behaving in an inhumane manner while arresting three women who had served porridge in memory of the Tamil people who were killed during the last phase of Sri Lanka’s war in Mullivaikal in 2009.
According to Journalists for Democracy in Sri Lanka, a partner of Reporters Without Borders (RSF), three women from Sampur in Trincomalee were arrested by the Police on Sunday night (May 12).
Video footage shows the Police forcibly dragging the women after claiming that a court order had been issued preventing the holding of any commemoration event in view of the Mullivaikal deaths.
It is also reported that a man who had also been part of the porridge distribution event had been arrested along with the three women. (Newswire)
