Sri Lanka’s Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa today likened Israeli attacks on Palestine to the atrocities committed by German Dictator Adolf Hitler.
During a parliamentary debate today on the rights of the Palestinians, MP Premadasa said the Palestinian people are currently enduring severe terrorism, with Israel engaging in actions reminiscent of the atrocities committed by Hitler against the Jews.
Standing in solidarity with Palestine, he said there should be unconditional support to end these attacks.
MP Premadasa noted that many leaders have moved from their initial extreme positions to a middle ground, finding a sustainable solution, adding that both nations should strive for cooperation through friendship.
The Opposition Leader further accused the current Israeli government of attempting to seize Palestinian land, establish new settlements, and decimate the population of Gaza.
Strongly condemning this form of terrorism, claiming it is carried out despite global opposition, MP Premadasa criticized the Israeli government led by Prime Minister Netanyahu for its extremist position and failure to stop these acts of terrorism.
According to foreign media, at least 35,173 people were killed and 79,061 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7.
The revised death toll in Israel from Hamas’s October 7 attacks stands at 1,139, with dozens of people still held captive. (Newswire)
