Sri Lanka’s Department of Meteorology has issued a special weather advisory effective for the next few days.
The prevalent showery and windy conditions are expected to enhance during the next few days due to pre-monsoon conditions over the country and surrounding sea areas.
Accordingly, heavy rainfalls are likely over the South-western parts of the island particularly in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-western provinces and in the Galle, Matara and Mannar districts.
Strong winds of about 60-70 kmph accompanied by heavy rainfalls are likely over the sea areas around the country and over the sea area bounded by 0-10 N 60-90 E.
The public, especially the fishing and naval community are requested to be vigilant in this regard. (Newswire)
