Former Army Commander General (Retd) Mahesh Senanayake has joined the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) led by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa.
The Opposition leader has also appointed Senanayake as the leader of the ‘Samagi Ranawiru Balawegaya’.
Senanayake served as the 22nd Commander of the Army and was promoted to the rank of General by former President Maithripala Sirisena in 2019, after Senanayake’s retirement.
The same year Senanayake announced his candidacy for the Presidential Election under the National People’s Party (NPP) contesting against former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa. (Newswire)
