The Ministry of Health has introduced the special hotline ‘1907’ for the public to inform of fake medical practitioners in Sri Lanka.
Issuing a statement, the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) said that the hotline has been established to protect the public from these fake doctors.
The GMOA said investigations have revealed that over 40,000 fake medical practitioners are operating in various parts of Sri Lanka at present.
Pointing out that several proposals had been made to the Health Ministry in this regard, the GMOA said as a result, the Police have commenced collecting information on fake doctors.
The GMOA has also organized an awareness campaign to be conducted in this regard in the near future.
Furthermore, the GMOA requested the public to use the newly introduced hotline to inform the authorities of fake medical practitioners in their areas. (Newswire)
