One person was arrested following a tense situation reported in Wellawatte, at an event to commemorate 15 years of the Mullivaikkal offensive.
A group of people representing various civil society groups and activists gathered at the Wellawatte beach this morning to commemorate the loss of lives at Mullivaikkal, Mullaitivu, where thousands of civilians died during the final stages of the war.
A tense situation emerged when another group of protestors turned up at the event, to celebrate the victory of the Sri Lankan forces. One protestor was apprehended by Police. (Newswire)
