At least 23,731 suspected Dengue cases have been reported during the year 2024, with 30 per cent of all cases reported from the Western Province, Dr Lahiru Kodithuwakku of the National Dengue Control Unit said.
1,458 Dengue cases have been reported during the month of May, he said, adding that the numbers are expected to rise with the onset of the monsoon.
Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Kandy and Jaffna districts have been identified as districts most at risk, with special Dengue prevention campaigns implemented in these areas from May 26, the National Dengue Control Unit said. (Newswire)
