The Sri Lanka Navy has rescued a family of three from a minor flood situation in the Mundalama area in Puttalam.
According to the Navy, the family had been endangered after minor floods had been reported in the area due to inclement weather experienced in the country.
The Navy said the Mundalama area in Puttalam experienced minor flooding due to the elevated water levels in a canal that drains sewage discharge from Periyakadawala Lake.
As a result, the Command Headquarters of Northwestern Naval Area was informed to rescue a group of people trapped in a house in the Mundalama area, due to floods.
In response, a Navy rescue team from SLNS Thambapanni in the Northwestern Naval Command was deployed to rescue those individuals.
Despite the challenging conditions, the Navy managed to reach the stranded family (mother, son and daughter) and rescue them unharmed. (Newswire)
