The Department of Meteorology has issued a Red Alert for 07 districts warning of heavy rain and strong wind effective until 08.30 am tomorrow (May 23).
According to the weather advisory, heavy rain between 100 mm – 150 mm and strong winds are expected in the Western, Sabragamuwa, and North-Western provinces and the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Mannar, Galle, and Matara districts during this period.
Meanwhile, an Amber Alert has been issued warning of strong winds in the Central Hills, and Northern, North-Central, Western, Southern, and North Western provinces, effective until 10.30 am tomorrow (May 23).
As per the advisory, strong winds of about 50-60kmph can be expected in the said areas. (Newswire)
