The owner of Lanka Premier League (LPL) Franchise, Dambulla Thunders, Tamim Rahman was remanded once again until June 07, 2024 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Thilina Gamage today.
The judge also instructed to present to the court the entire telephone conversation in which the suspect had discussed match-fixing.
Tamim Rahman, a British citizen of Bangladesh origin, was arrested at the Katunayake Aiport on May 22 a day after the player auction for the LPL 2024, and was remanded until May 31 by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
He was arrested by officials of the Special Investigation Unit for the Prevention of Offences Relating to Sports at the Sports Ministry over allegations of match-fixing.
The Dambulla Thunders’ made 18 signings in the player auction of the LPL 2024, held in Colombo, which was also attended by the International Cricket Council’s Anti-Corruption team.
The LPL is scheduled to be played from July 1st to 21st, starting in Kandy, then in Dambulla, before heading to Colombo for the end of the tournament. (Newswire)
