Breeda Jayasuriya, the mother of renowned Sri Lankan cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya, passed away at the age of 80. She died in a private hospital in Matara, her hometown.
Sanath Jayasuriya, who was in the USA with the Sri Lankan cricket team serving as a consultant coach, will return to Sri Lanka upon hearing the news.
Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed his return to be with his family during this difficult time.
The funeral will be reportedly held on Wednesday in Matara.
