IMF Board meeting scheduled for Sri Lanka’s second review

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) will take up for discussion Article IV consultation and second review under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) for Sri Lanka, next week.

According to State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe, the discussion on Sri Lanka is on the IMF Board meeting agenda for Wednesday, June 12, 2024.

“The session will evaluate Sri Lanka’s economic policies and reform progress. We look forward for continued support of all countries for a successful review to unlock the third tranche, which will further enhance economic stability, growth, and reform efforts,” the State Minister said in a post on ‘X’.

In December 2023, the IMF’s Executive Board approved the first review of Sri Lanka’s program with the IMF, enabling a disbursement of US$337 million. 

In March 2024, the IMF Staff and the Sri Lankan authorities reached a Staff-Level Agreement on economic policies to conclude the second review, as well as the 2024 Article IV Consultation. (Newswire)
