Several train services have been cancelled today due to the strike action launched by the Locomotive Operating Engineers’ Union.
According to the Railway Department, eight train services, including office trains, plying from the Colombo-Fort Railway Station were cancelled or delayed this morning.
The Locomotive Operating Engineers’ Union launched a strike action from midnight yesterday over several demands, including promotions.
The Union announced that the strike had been launched due to the failure of the authorities, including the General Manager of Railways, to solve the problems of train drivers. (Newswire)
