President Ranil Wickremesinghe met with state officials of neighbouring countries during his ongoing visit to India where he attended the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe visited New Delhi at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the oath-taking ceremony of the new Indian government.
Following the swearing-in ceremony, President Wickremesinghe attended a banquet hosted by Indian President Smt. Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday (June 09).
According to the President’s Media Division (PMD), the banquet was held for leaders of neighbouring countries who attended the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who secured a third term.
The leaders who attended the banquet include President Mohamed Muizzu of the Maldives; Vice President Ahmed Afif of Seychelles; Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh; Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth of Mauritius; Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda of Nepal; and Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay of Bhutan.
President Wickremesinghe also met with S. Jaishankar who was reappointed as India’s External Affairs Minister under the new Modi government.

Meanwhile, the President also met with Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in New Delhi today.
Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is currently in India after having visited the country to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. (Newswire)
