Twenty (20) newly recruited officers to the Sri Lanka Foreign Service assumed duties on Tuesday (June 11), after being welcomed to the Ministry by Foreign Secretary Aruni Wijewardane.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Foreign Secretary highlighted the important role of the Sri Lanka Foreign Service (SLFS) and the special responsibilities of all officers as public servants.
She referred to the skills required in the modern world of diplomacy including the priority given to economic diplomacy.
The Ministry further said that 20 new officers have been recruited to the SLFS through an open competitive examination and interview process and appointed by the Public Service Commission.
The newly recruited officers will participate in the induction training programme conducted by the Bandaranaike International Diplomatic Training Institute (BIDTI) before taking up duties at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. (Newswire)
