Two individuals have been arrested upon arrival in Sri Lanka for their attempt to smuggle gold articles to the country.
A 44-year-old man, a resident of Samanthurai and a 49-year-old woman, a resident of Kalmunai were arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport, based on a tip-off received by Airport Police officers.
14 bangles, three chains, three rings and a pair of earrings were among the items seized from the suspects’ possession.
