On June 15, 2024, the Kaduwela Toastmasters Club celebrated a significant milestone—its 100th meeting and 5th anniversary. This special event, themed “Journey to 100,” was held at Rathmalana and brought together a vibrant community of speakers and leaders from District 82 of Toastmasters International.
The Kaduwela Toastmasters Club, a dynamic community club attached to District 82, holds its regular meetings on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month at OKI International School, Kaduwela, from 10 a.m to 12 noon. Since its inception, the club has been a nurturing ground for individuals seeking to hone their public speaking and leadership skills.
The celebration of the 100th meeting was graced by notable figures from District 82. Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) Mahinda Karunakara, the District Director and DTM Ganga Fernando, the Program Quality Director were among the key attendees. Their presence underscored the importance of the event and highlighted the club’s accomplishments over the past five years. The meeting also saw participation from many district leaders, senior Toastmasters, and members from neighboring clubs, reflecting the strong community bonds within the Toastmasters network.
A highlight of the meeting was the keynote speech delivered by DTM Bhathiya Hettiarchchi, who captivated the audience with his talk titled “Find the Genie in You.” His speech resonated with the theme of the event, inspiring members to recognize and unleash their hidden potential.
Throughout the meeting, the atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm and camaraderie.
