Sri Lanka welcomes 1 millionth tourist in 2024

Sri Lanka celebrated a significant milestone today as it welcomed its one millionth tourist of the year. Mr. Paul Roy, an Irish national, arrived with his wife on flight UL 504 and was honored at a special event at Bandaranaike International Airport. The celebration was organized by Tourism Sri Lanka in partnership with Airport & Aviation Services Sri Lanka Private Ltd.

Tourism Minister Harin Fernando stated that the Ministry is working hard to achieve the target of bringing 2 million tourists in 2024. In 2023, Sri Lanka saw over 1.4 million tourists, reflecting a remarkable 106% growth compared to 2022. (NewsWire)
