Army supports devotees in 79 KM Pada Yathra Pilgrimage to Kataragama Temple

The annual pada yathra event, marking the journey to participate in the Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Devala festival, commenced recently with Hindu devotees gathering near the Okanda temple in Kumana National Forest Park. The pilgrimage spans approximately 79 kilometers through Kumana Yala National Forest Park and will conclude at the Kataragama Temple.

A significant number of Hindu devotees across the island participate in this event annually. The Sri Lanka Army is providing essential facilities to ensure the success of the pilgrimage. Troops have been deployed to ensure the safety of the devotees. Additionally, they are offering water and health facilities for the convenience of those traveling on foot, following the instructions of the Commander of the Army. (SL Army)
