The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) says its newly elected office-bearers for the year 2024/2025  are ready to make positive interventions to protect the medical profession and health service in Sri Lanka.

Issuing a statement, the GMOA said it will continue its representation to strengthen the health service and resolve various issues faced, such as medicines, salary issues of doctors, and the issue of doctors leaving the country.

The GMOA also vowed to improve the medical degrees offered in the country and to take necessary measures to provide quality education.

As per the elections held in June, Dr. Sajeewa Tennekone has been elected as the President of the GMOA, while Dr. Prabath Sugathadasa has been appointed as the Secretary.

The GMOA’s newly elected Executive Committee consists of 16 members, while its Central Working Committee consists of 35 members. (Newswire)
