The National Election Commission has announced that Shanmugam Kugathasan of the Illankai Tamil Arasu Kadchi (ITAK) has been appointed to fill the Parliamentary seat vacated recently.
The Parliamentary seat was vacated following the demise of Tamil National Alliance (TNA) member and former Opposition Leader R. Sampanthan.
Issuing a statement, the National Election Commission said ITAK’s Shanmugam Kugathasan will fill in the Parliament seat of the late R. Sampanthan.
Thereby, ITAK’s Shanmugam Kugathasan has been appointed as a Member of Parliament for the Trincomalee District. (Newswire)
