The Sri Lanka Customs Officers’ Union has called off its two-day ‘sick leave’ campaign, which was launched today over the failure of authorities to address its various demands.
It is reported that the trade union action was called off following discussions with State Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya.
The Sri Lanka Customs Officers’ Union staged a “work-to-rule” trade union action in the past two days due to discussions with authorities having failed on several occasions.
However, as authorities were yet to respond to their demands, they launched a sick leave campaign to be held today (July 04) and tomorrow (July 05).
According to the Union, the campaign was launched against the authorities’ arbitrary decision to introduce the Sri Lanka Revenue Authority (SLRA) Bill and make amendments to various sections of the Customs Ordinance. (Newswire)
