Two children killed in separate road accidents

A 09-year-old girl from Mulliyaveli has died after being knocked by a car in the Mamule area last evening.

The Police said the car, travelling from Mullaitivu to Neddunkerny, had knocked down the child who was walking along the road.

The girl, who is a resident of the Mamule area in Mulliyaveli, had died upon admission to the Mancholai Hospital. The Mulliyaveli Police is conducting investigations into the incident.

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old boy has died after crashing his motorcycle into a utility pole in the Badalgama area last evening.

The Police said the motorcyclist had been travelling with a pillion rider towards Keselhella Junction in the Ranawiru Peiris Mawatha area when he had lost control of the motorcycle.

The motorcycle had then crashed into a utility pole, after which the injured persons had been admitted to the Divulapitiya Hospital, where the motorcyclist had succumbed to injuries.

The deceased has been identified as a 19-year-old resident of Katuwellegama. The Badalgama Police is conducting investigations into the accident. (Newswire)
