President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s proposal for a special pay increment to non-executive government officials who reported for duty on Monday (July 8) and Tuesday (July 9) has received a Cabinet nod.
The President’s proposal also requests to issue the officers with a commendation certificate for future promotions.
According to the President’s Media Division (PMD), the Cabinet of Ministers approved the President’s proposal today.
The President’s proposal comes amidst a two-day trade union action staged by 200 public sector trade unions over various demands, including salary anomalies.
The public was severely inconvenienced by the trade union action staged yesterday and today, by several trade unions including postal, Grama Niladharis, surveyors, Samurdhi, District and Divisional Secretaries, and education officers. (Newswire)
