The trade union action by Sri Lanka’s Railway Station Masters and Controllers, which had caused significant disruption to train services over the past two days, has been called off effective midnight tonight.
The decision to end the strike came after a discussion with Minister of Transport Bandula Gunawardene.
“If they report for duty, the letters considering them as having vacated their posts will be withdrawn” Transport Minister Bandula Gunawardene said
Earlier today, the Ministry of Transport, led by Minister Bandula Gunawardena, issued letters to the striking railway employees, informing them that they were considered to have vacated their posts due to their non-attendance. (Newswire)
