Lawyer files case to stop 2024 Presidential election

Attorney-at-Law Aruna Laksiri has filed a Fundamental Rights (FR) petition before the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka seeking an order to withhold the Presidential Election.

In his petition, the lawyer requests to withhold the Presidential Election as the 19th Amendment to the Constitution has yet to be properly passed in Parliament. 

Attorney-at-Law Aruna Laksiri has further sought a referendum to properly pass the 19th Amendment to the Constitution. (Newswire)
