The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has issued a fresh circular on Friday, instructing Police officers to conduct investigations in a manner that protects the identities of suspects and other sensitive information.
According to the Police Media Division, the circular outlines standard operating procedures for investigations, supplementing similar directives issued previously.
The new guidelines follow severe criticism of the professional conduct of officers involved in the murder investigation of businessman Wasantha Perera.
