Opposition Leader MP Sajith Premadasa says Sri Lanka has now become an ‘auctionland’.

MP Premadasa made these remarks criticizing the government’s approach to negotiating a bailout with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

MP Premadasa said if there was a clear mandate, a populist agreement could be reached with the IMF.

The Opposition Leader was of the view that the government could have reached a far more suitable agreement with the IMF, but for that, a government with a clear mandate is required.

The Opposition Leader pointed out that the current leader only has a temporary mandate with a divided majority.

The MP further stressed that international negotiations cannot be reached with frameworks under false pretences.

Opposition Leader MP Sajith Premadasa made these remarks while attending an event of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB). (Newswire)
