The final draft of the Charter for Ensuring Patients’ Safety and Well-being was approved by the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Health recently (July 09).
It is considered to be the first Charter prepared to ensure the safety and well-being of patients in the South Asian Region.
According to a Parliament statement, the Charter was approved when it was taken up for consideration at the meeting of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Health held under the Chairmanship of MP Mayantha Dissanayake.
The final draft of the Charter for Ensuring Patients’ Safety and Well-being was presented to Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana and Chairman of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Health MP Mayantha Dissanayake by MP and Chair of the Subcommittee appointed by the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Health (Dr.) Upul Galappathth in June 2024.
It was prepared by the Sub-Committee of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Health and its panel of experts on the advice and guidance of the World Health Organization (WHO). (Newswire)
