Cabinet approval has been received for the allocation of funds from the Saudi Funds for Development for the completion of part 1 of the Godagama- Homagama road which is completed halfway.
According to the government, the funds from the Saudi Funds for Development were utilized to implement the Kurinchakeni Bridge Project in the Trincomalee district.
After completion of the procurement procedure of this project, there is a further loan balance of US$ 10.5 Million which was decided to be used to finish part 1 of the half-completed Godagama- Homagama road.
However, a further US$ 12 Million is required to complete the balance work of this road, to which the Saudi Funds for Development has agreed to grant US$ 1.5 Million from the loan amount of the Road Network Development project funded by it.
Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by the Minister of Transport and Highways to complete part 1 of the Godagama- Homagama road using the funds of the Saudi Funds for Development. (Newswire)
