Zubin Bharucha, the high-performance director for the Rajasthan Royals IPL franchise, commenced a batting master class for Sri Lanka national players in Colombo today.

The sessions, running from 18-24 July, were organized on the recommendation of Cricketing legend Kumar Sangakkara and at the request of Sri Lanka Cricket Consultant Sanath Jayasuriya.

The training involves sequenced training, a method introduced by Bharucha and the Rajasthan Royals Academy, focused on enhancing adaptability.

This method includes four throwers positioned 15 feet from the batter, each delivering different types of balls such as flicks, cuts, pulls, and drives. Behind them, feeders with sidearms, along with spinners and fast bowlers, create 16 variables to challenge the players with various shots on both sides, The Sunday Times Newspaper reported last week.

Bharucha, a former Mumbai batsman, is known for his rigorous training methods, which have played a key role in the development of Indian batters Dhruv Jurel and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

The training, starting today, marks the beginning of an intense six-month period of cricket tours for the Sri Lanka national players. (Newswire)
