State Minister Indika Anuruddha said that meetings held to discuss government programmes have turned into gatherings which discuss how to dismantle the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).
The Minister was referring to the ‘Ekwa Jayagamu’ rally held in Gampaha on Sunday where Minister Prasanna Ranatunga proposed that President Ranil Wickremesinghe contest the next Presidential Election.
“Gampaha is trying to stand in unity. So we had to take a look at who we will be standing with. We are supposed to stand with our opponents,” Anuruddha said addressing a SLPP rally in Bingiriya.
He noted that these meetings have been designed to dismantle the SLPP, instead of discussing governance.
“What is being discussed at these meetings is how to form an alliance by sidelining the most powerful members of our party,” Anuruddha said, adding that he is not in favour of this development.
The State Minister also accused several members of this party of exploiting party leader Mahinda Rajapaksa’s image to enter Parliament. (Newswire)
