The first phase of construction work for the development of the Kalutara District Cricket Ground commenced under the patronage of Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena recently.
The cricket ground is being constructed under Sri Lanka Cricket’s “National Development Pathway” programme, which envisions providing equal opportunities to every young and talented cricketer to represent the national team.
The cost for the new cricket ground from the initial phase until completion will be borne by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
Consisting of 05 centre pitches, this cricket ground will consist of the ability to open the boundary at a distance of 60 meters from the main pitch.
Following the completion of the cricket ground, it will be utilized to host district, as well as, all school cricket matches. (Newswire)
