A 03-year-old child was reported dead after sustaining injuries due to a coconut falling onto her head while at a pre-school close to Mawanella Town on Thursday.
The Police said the child had been injured while at the pre-school premises and had been rushed to the Mawanella Hospital.
However, she had succumbed to injuries after being transferred to the Kandy hospital for further treatment.
The deceased has been identified as a 3 ½ -year-old girl from the Mawana area in Mawanella.
The Mawanella Police is conducting investigations into the incident. (Newswire)
