The Department of Meteorology says the prevailing showery condition over the island is expected to continue further due to the low-level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka.
Accordingly, showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and Uva provinces. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere on the island during the evening or night.
Heavy showers above 100 mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and North-western provinces. Showers may occur over the eastern coastal areas during the morning too.
Meanwhile, showers will occur at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Hambantota via Galle. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the other sea areas around the island during the afternoon or night.
Winds will be westerly to south-westerly and wind speed will be 30-40 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 50-55 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Galle to Batticaloa via Matara, Hambantota and Pottuvil.
The sea areas off the coasts extending from Galle to Batticaloa via Matara, Hambantota and Pottuvil may be fairly rough at times. Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (Newswire)
