A 44-year-old man has been arrested over the murder of his mother-in-law and for having caused serious injuries to his wife and daughter after attacking them with a sharp weapon in the Lewangama area in Galapitamada last evening.
The Police said the suspect had engaged in a verbal argument with his wife, daughter and mother-in-law over a financial dispute.
During the argument, the man had attacked the mother-in-law on the head with a stone and had followed to attack his wife and daughter with a sharp weapon, causing serious injuries.
The 55-year-old mother-in-law had died after being admitted to the Karawanella Hospital.
The 44-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection to the incident, while the Galapitamada Police is conducting investigations. (Newswire)
