The implementation of the national strategy on artificial intelligence in Sri Lanka, to create an empowered digitalized Sri Lanka, has received a Cabinet nod.
Sri Lanka has been unable to make a significant impact on global artificial intelligence, despite having achieved considerable progress on the digital transformation route, the government said.
As such, the national strategies on artificial intelligence in Sri Lanka have been prepared, with the view of Sri Lanka creating a regional hub for artificial intelligence and helping increase the resilience of the country’s economy by 2030, the government said.
Accordingly, the Cabinet has approved the proposal presented by the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Technology, to implement the national strategy on artificial intelligence in Sri Lanka to achieve the said objectives.
The strategies will encompass agriculture, health services, education and upgrading public services, with a view to achieving sustainable economic development and eradicating poverty. (Newswire)
