Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, a key member of the National People’s Power (NPP), has claimed that a significant conspiracy is underway to tarnish the party’s reputation. According to Jayatissa, a meeting between President Ranil Wickremesinghe and SJB MP S.M. Marikkar, recently highlighted on social media, suggests a coordinated effort to spread false accusations against the NPP.

Jayatissa refuted allegations that NPP members sold vehicle permits for party funds, labeling the claims as baseless. He asserted that this is part of a broader political strategy by rival parties to undermine the NPP.

He clarified that no NPP member has sold any of their vehicle permits. In 2005, when 83 Provincial Council members were appointed from the NPP, they had the opportunity to receive 83 permits, but they only took 2 permits and returned the remaining 81 to the government.

He further emphasized that this accusation is baseless and untrue. The allegation of selling vehicle permits cannot be leveled against the NPP, but it could be directed at members of the UNP, SJB, and SLPP.
